City Revitalization in Progress
RETTEW teamed with the James Street Improvement District (JSID) in an effort to increase tourism and enhance the visual appearance of Lancaster City. Goals for this project included improving the district's streetscapes as well as its transportation circulation via potential future connections with or extensions of through-streets and access roads. In order to do so, RETTEW provided JSID with a preliminary feasibility assessment that included existing conditions, a five-year timeline for improvements, and graphics depicting potential streetscape improvements. Additionally, the final report provided JSID with essential tools to showcase the recommended improvements to state and local legislators, planning agencies such as the Lancaster County Planning Commission, and state agencies such as PennDOT. The report also contained funding options for the project and recommended steps to successfully implement the proposed improvements.
