Bringing New Life to an Old Community
Bethel Harambee Historical Services, Inc., a neighborhood-based organization driven by members of Bethel A.M.E. Church, is seeking to develop a 3.5 acre site along Queen Street which currently contains storage facilities and vacant industrial buildings into a cultural entertainment complex. The complex will include a theater, arts, cultural, and historical center to educate the public and draw tourism to the area. RETTEW's design team held a one-day design charrette with the client and residents to develop a master plan to illustrate the neighborhood's vision. The ultimate goal is for visitors to become interested in the immediate area and initiate a need for future development of diverse residential communities and commercial spaces.
