Revitalizing Urban America, One Community at a Time
Oxford is a small urban community in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. Since Oxford does not effectively accommodate the growing need for a pedestrian-friendly town center, Oxford Mainstreet, Inc. (OMI) hired RETTEW to make recommendations that will build upon the Town Center Feasibility Study. RETTEW conducted a three-day charrette involving interested citizens, business owners and OMI. RETTEW's recommendations included the following key components to implementing a successful downtown revitalization plan: strengthen gateways, develop a retail strategy for the town center, establish a marquee building site and usage, reinforce Main Street, strengthen railroad corridor/parking distribution and implement traffic calming.
