Planning Smart: Linking Infrastructure Investment with High-Growth Areas

To adequately prepare for population growth over the next 20 years, Mifflin County needed to update its public sewer plan to comply with the County's Comprehensive Plan. RETTEW developed the Mifflin County Public Sewer Plan (MCPSP) to answer that need. MCPSP examines existing conditions, analyzes demographic/economic trends and changes from previous planning documents, compares existing capacities against projected demand, and compares discharge/water quality limits based on the Chesapeake Bay Tributary Strategy. In addition, it will evaluate the potential for combined sewage enforcement planning, on-lot disposal systems (OLDS) education techniques, and address the sewage service needs of the County's high-growth areas.
