Fishing Creek: A Precious Natural Resource
Fishing Creek is home to a wild and naturally reproducing population of brown trout and 25 other species. Since the Lancaster County Conservancy owns several properties along Fishing Creek, and the stream has been designated as a High Quality-Cold Water Fishery, the Conservancy felt compelled to study the watershed to identify how it could be better protected and improved. RETTEW prepared a comprehensive watershed assessment that identified approximately 40 restoration and improvement projects within the watershed. The report included prescribed best management practices, restoration recommendations, and available grant programs to help with funding.
