A Historic Centerpiece for a Smart-Growth Community

 

Lime Spring Farm is a 115-acre property with a mix of state-registered historic structures in a pastoral setting. A prime location in Lancaster County, the site is situated in a desirable school district with easy access to major highways. RETTEW's client and East Hempfield Township challenged RETTEW to design a walkable, Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND) community while preserving the farm's natural characteristics and historic structures. RETTEW designed three distinct neighborhoods, including an extension of historic Rohrerstown with a network of open space, paths, and trails. The existing farmhouse and outbuildings will be renovated for community use.
